Reclaiming Your Fertility

We understand our patients have been on a roller-coaster of hope and disappointment for many months and often years, and that the quest for a biologic child may have devolved into a deeply painful and prolonged experience. Most of our patients feel they can’t wait even one more day for their children to arrive.

Enhancing Your Fertility at Oriens

Helping women step fully into their fertility begins with discovery.
Gently, determinedly, we work to optimize the likelihood of conception and full-term pregnancy.
Many women in their 30’s and 40’s come to Oriens with long and expensive histories of unsuccessful IUI’s, IVF’s and other procedures. Some have files inches thick of tests, diagnoses, procedures, drugs, etc. Others are at the beginning of wondering why they have not yet conceived. Yet others have suffered the heartbreak of multiple miscarriages.

Together we make sense of the data...what western medicine can tell us, and consider how to make best use of what it can offer. We work our way through the past to make sense of the present. We dialogue with one another and sometimes request more information from the biomedical experts that may not have been considered to date.

We also look underneath the reports. We begin to address underlying imbalances that might even be subtle enough to make biomedical testing come out “within normal limits” but throw the body off enough to prevent reproduction or undermine egg development. We discover and correct deficiencies and overloads on various systems that may be interfering with or draining fertility.

Procreating is often possible once the woman or couple has moved into a higher state of health, perspective is regained, and the psyche is calmed down. As Dr. Lewis reminds us, “very few women are actually infertile, most women are simply imbalanced.”

Using IVF and Reproductive Medicine

For those using IVF as a conception strategy, we offer the pre- and post- transfer acupuncture protocol medically demonstrated  to increase pregnancy outcomes by almost 50%.  We provide this as part of your Fertility Enhancement Program at Oriens, or, if your clinic agrees, Oriens comes to your IVF clinic. In addition, we work as closely with your RE and nurses, as their availability allows.

Oriens enjoys a special relationship with Advanced Fertility Services and Dr. Hugh Melnick (The Pregnancy Prescription). In this collaboration, Dr. Melnick and Elizabeth share your bloodwork and ultrasound news and conference your case all along the way. The Highly Successful Fertile Soul™ Approach

Recovering fertility comes from helping the body reach its potential through addressing issues that are truly physical as well as those that stem from mental, emotional and spiritual stresses which steal resources from and undermine important communications within the reproductive system. This approach can help whether a couple is pursuing assisted reproduction or looking for a natural solution.

The approach integrates acupuncture and Chinese medicine with education, diet, nutritional supplementation, exercises to improve the reproductive response (yoga, qi gong, dance), meditation, and counseling to facilitate internal self inquiry leading to cognitive restructuring.

We help our patients prepare themselves as well as possible for a natural or assisted conception and pregnancy using holistic treatment methods. We ask for 90 days, enough time to change the environment in which your eggs mature.

As you shift your health, energy and reproductive environment over that time, the new eggs that enter into a more fertile environment are more likely to fertilize into embryos and go on to implant and grow in a healthy uterus. For those that feel they must be doing a procedure during this time of restoration, we suggest natural IUI.
