As the weekend begins we may still feel awash in slushy weather or sloshing feelings, tired of feeling needy, under the weather, or at the mercy of the fates. Over the last few weeks complex and thoughtful dreamy aspects have encouraged us to chew over our life and dream of possibilities. These dreams may have precipitated a subtle shift in how we perceive ourselves, our work or our life as the Sun, Venus, Mercury Jupiter and Uranus lined up in receptive, permeable Pisces.

Those dreams now begin to change in how we operate and what we do as Venus heads into fresh, renovating Aries on Sunday and brings in a more can-do approach. Venus in Aries also trines energizing Mars in Leo, these two planets of emotion work together in energized fire signs to give us a major green light but takes away our patience. If we’re in a situation that drains our energy, we get fed up and start mapping our revolution. There’s no need to hurry, we'll have more gumption over the next few weeks as Mercury and the Sun enter Aries, but the impulse and planning begin now.

But first, as the weekend begins, let moody people unwind in their own way; go for acceptance and not intimacy. We’re ready to make connections over the weekend but have a short attention span; we need a break and get farther if we make the work playful.

We may be sorely tempted to make a radical and impulsive emotional decision early in the week, and need to take a big deep breath and see if it’s really worth the cost. Something we want can feel just out of our reach, but whether our job is to release temptation or take it as a goad to leap across into new terrain will depend on how our circumsntaces, coices and how our chart is affected as Venus enters impulsive Aries and trines Mars in Leo, while Mars stations. We’re also tempted to pick a fight, back a cause, run away and join the circus, and generally get more passionate about life, but luckily our energy level may still be low enough to keep us out of trouble.

It is important to engage our heart in our life, and take this impulse as a reason to reinvest in what feeds us, feeds our life force. If we have been wavering in some longstanding decision, it may now become clear to us which way we really want to proceed. What has been stuck now begins to loosen. Venus forms tough aspect as the week progresses and suggest to us that make progress on one road, we have to say good bye to another. First, check to see if both paths can be woven together. But the fork in the road may be real and need to be faced before we progress.

On Wednesday, Mars turns direct; it has been retrograde since December 21 2009. Since Mars is the planet of motivation, resistance and physicality, it now releases energy which may have been dammed up for months. As Mars turns direct we see what people have been planning behind the scenes, their motivation now becomes apparent. Plans that have been blocked now get a green light. But not all those plans were nice ones. It’s a good time to avoid people with which we have longstanding feuds, avoid war zones, and hold those within in protective light.

It is a good time to get resumes ready and take advantage of a window of opportunity between now and mid-April, when Mercury retrogrades, to put in place dynamic new plans.

Friday, March 5: Discontent can rattle us and make us clumsy, but can shift if we find one thing that works this afternoon as the Scorpio Moon trines Uranus. Later we get easily inflamed and out of sorts if pressed, but can reconnect indirectly later on if we are given enough room. Let the evening be spaceous and relaxed

Saturday, March 6: The day is wandering and sociable; we need a break from pressures and mucking about in our psyches. Chance meetings or spontaneous moments renew. Learn something new take a more philosophical perspective. Don’t take any communications glitch seriously around dinnertime, generous spirits return later.

Sunday, March 7: The day is ripe with possibilities as long as we don’t ask people to be too practical or specific. Let’s shine our light but keep it honest as Venus trines Mars and Mercury conjuncts Jupiter; an illusion of limitation is ready to dissolve. It may be time to testify, broadcast what we care about while still honoring what works for others.

Monday, March 8: Hit the ground running this morning, make contacts early and attend some waiting urgency. Midday, cut to the chase as the Moon enters Capricorn and conjuncts Pluto, get to the tough work. Listen to a wave of doubt or grimness, but don’t believe the litany it sings.

Tuesday, March 9: Structural work is needed to support creative enterprise; build good foundations. Tough stuff and hard work can make it hard to be warm and fuzzy as Venus opposes Saturn; don’t take the distance personally. Support one another’s work. Employment or labor issues, tend to the work at hand. We may want to tell them just what we think, but why burn that bridge; when under stress, get more polite and professional.

Wednesday, March 10: Productive morning, try again where efforts were stuck or stunted these last few days. People are more willing when they understand the point. People want plot, cooperate with a focused goal, but resist busy work. Afternoon is friendlier but stubbornness can bruise feelings this evening; sadness speaks to us but is more environmental than personal.

Thursday, March 11: We have no time for trivia, practical work is productive but emotions can be all over the place as Venus squares Pluto. We can long for something we can’t have, and cause needless pain just for an emotional charge. If we’re going to angst, we may as well reach out in some real compassionate action.

The word February is from Latin februum, which means purification. We’ll need good psychic hygiene to handle this next month as we paddle about ambient pools of emotion while the Sun joins Uranus, Venus and Jupiter in Pisces.

Pisces energy is subtle, murky, and complex; it speaks of the tidewaters of the collective oceanic subconscious, an ocean that seeps into our dreams and leaves us awash in archetypal images. Uranus electrifies this inner world, Jupiter expands, it, and Venus cranks up our emotional motivation.

When we’re awash with this Piscean energy, it can get hard to tell where we end and the rest of the world begins. We’re more aware than usual that we are all interconnected by germ and by dream, economy and ecology. Most of us will just feel soft, float about in our dreams, or paddle about in memories and feelings. Some will become aware that our sense of separation is just an illusion. A few may react to this vulnerability by armoring-up or going off on what appears to be an unreasonable attack, on the belief that the best defense is a good offense.

Uranus can electrify our dreams under these circumstances, we may see renew hope for an idea that had seemed to be dead, or renewed believe in a dream. We also may be forced by some unexpected Uranian event to face our dreams and see if we can make them come alive.

Pisces reminds us of how subtle and complicated the truth really is; some people will find it easier to lie or decorate the truth with imaginary simplicity so they can streamline their politics. But we can work with this longing for magical simplicity in a more creative way and use it streamline our meditation or sweep out the flotsam in our house or soul.

Pisces is a dreamy sign, a wonderful gift when we need a moment out of time. We just have to be extra aware of the border between our imagination and consensual reality. Any work which needs an active imagination or an ability to believe in the unlikely can prosper this week. But we’re also easily distracted and can waltz off into our imagination without noticing that we’ve crossed the threshold, spend the day dreaming of what we’d do with the house we might win or imagining that our neighbor loves or hates us when all they said was ‘here’s the paper”.

And this is where the psychic purification comes in. We need to let the rivers flow in our souls but be able to direct the flow rather than drown in its waters. Be kind to the self and bring the mind back from its wandering to create the subtle beauty in the present moment. We can notice our story, but check our facts; trust in creation, but do the work.

Because we can feel unusually permeable and vulnerable, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the impact of recent events. Processing can help us feel better, and we might whine and complain or take a more passive approach, but this is the shadow side of Pisces.

We may feel lower energy than usual, possibly more sensitive to allergens, germs, and invasive people, but also potentially more aware and creative. It helps to get in the body over this weekend as the Moon enters Taurus, rest up and feed the senses to prepare for the week ahead. It will help to get more sleep than usual over the next few weeks to listen to our dreams and strengthen our immune system.

Early next week the aspects help us multi-task, but can leave us nervy and spread thin as Mercury challenges Saturn and Pluto underneath a Gemini Moon. We may need to work around sluggish or confusing communications and transportation, and remember some people just can’t help it if it takes them a while to get to the point.

Unless we keep our perspective clear, our thinking may tend to look on the dark side and miss opportunities because we aren’t looking for them. Cutbacks or surgery may be necessary. We can also cut our bad behaviors not cut out people. Later in the week the trend reverses, we get a whiff of springtime in our minds if not the weather as the Sun conjuncts Jupiter. Look for new possibilities.

Friday, Feb 19: Friendly, creative, if sensitive; an earthy Taurus Moon invites us to cuddle down or dig our heels in. Early morning face-off as the Moon squares Mars may just be resentment for getting out of bed. But if we stop pushing and start listening with our hearts, we get the flow going as the Moon trines Pluto midday. We need comfort and food for the senses tonight.

Saturday, Feb 20: Sweet morning to sleep in or move slow. If communication is a bit off as the Moon square Mercury, just make pancakes together. Some issue around financial or materiel security needs attention, not worry, midday. Moody evening; get the feelings out without dramatizing the story.

Sunday, Feb 21: A slow and spicy, quietly spiritual morning switches to a nervy, innovative day as the Moon enters Gemini midday. Easily distracted vibe, gossip flows along with revelations. Good day to gently break in to new territory. Too much information can leave us flooded or indecisive; keep the flow going but sort for relevance towards long term goals.

Monday, Feb 22: Too many words and still communications glitch; websites may flicker as Mercury forms a minor difficult aspect to Saturn and Pluto. If a co-worker is obtuse, change the subject and try again in few days. A void needs filling, a foundation needs rebuilding it. If depressive thoughts flow through, don’t attach to them. Evening brings a clearer perspective.

Tuesday, Feb 23: We can get a little twitchy; situations are at a balance point and could go really wrong or wonderfully right while the Sun sextiles Pluto. Accept our common denominators to progress on important issues. Shelter and home need attention. The emotional water table rises this afternoon as the Moon enters Cancer; reassurance and comfort needed tonight to metabolize events as the Moon squares Saturn.

Wednesday, Feb 24: We may need to let go of something important this morning even though we’re afraid of loss as the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto and trines Jupiter. This fear can make us want to pull back unnecessarily, emotionally or financially. Each person needs to weigh the risk /benefit ratio for themselves, but let’s find a balance and not deny possibility just to reduce the risk of loss. Concerns may dissolve in evening’s warmth.

Thursday, Feb 25: Gentle subjectivity helps teaching, diagnosis, healing. If our insecurities start to circle, we can either pour it into art or break the cycle by focusing on someone else or something objective. Later, edges roughen on emotionally charged relationships as the Leo Moon conjuncts Mars; be humble.

Heather's Astroloby for February 13-18, 2010

We‘re supposed to love one another this week, or at least say we do. Valentine’s Day an Aquarian holiday, Aquarius loves ideas, and love is a great idea. But like all ideas, this love can be either an inspiring ideal, a chance to connect with and express something we truly feel, or an abstract concept that we hold our life up against, judge it, and feel disappointed if it doesn’t measure up. Why bother?

Aquarius is not an expert on intimacy. It specialized in group dynamics, community, buddies, internet, or, if we’re lucky, all sentient beings. So how can we take this Aquarian holiday back to wiser childhood version of Valentine’s Day and send cards to everyone in the class. Let’s give ourselves the gift of altruism and good karma and take the heat off personal dynamics. Ask not what Valentine’s can do for you, but what you can do for Valentines’ Day and do something concrete to love the whole world.

This does not get us completely free from the interpersonal politics of Valentines’ Day. With Venus in hypersensitive Pisces conjunct expansive Jupiter, and Mars in ignore-me-if-you-dare Leo, it would be romantically unwise to space out on the usual rituals. What most romantic partners need is to feel uniquely seen and appreciated, and this may or may not include roses. We can get funky with the community on Saturday, and make it more personal on Sunday, or hold hands with our beloveds as we do good works.

We need to take our imagination somewhere wonderful on this permeable, potentially magical weekend, as it’s easy to feel vulnerable and oversensitive otherwise. This memory-laden time can easily slip into a swampy pity-party. While it can be healing to let feelings fill up spill out to re-establish a healthy flow, we don’t need to get stuck there. Venus in Pisces and advertising promos want to make it personal, but we can break the hype.

Those not in a relationship are off the hook interpersonally, but may feel the romantic gap with the aspects and the media hype pumping up the emotional volume. Take back the day to the collective Aquarian holiday we celebrated as a child. Consider pro-actively gathering non-partnered friends just for fun, or as a benefit for a cause. If in a solitary mood, let’s consider doing a heart-chakra meditation on Valentine's or dive into the art supplies. All would benefit from finding a way to be of service and use the heart as the Sun, Neptune and Chiron conjunct under a dreamy Moon, Venus, and Jupiter conjunction in Pisces. Venus wants her dues, but loves the higher creative aspects of heart.

The aspects are also auspicious for those that want to meet up with a romantic partner. In the ancient Mediterranean world this was not a day to celebrate how in love you already were, but to celebrate the land and partner up unpaired people. In both Greece and Rome, names were drawn on this holiday to pair up, celebrate fertility in time-honored ways, and fertilize the land. Speed dating was not an internet invention. Look for group experiences to hook up, and focus on the lonely others, not self.

Midweek, we get out of the swamp; action and creativity can work together to improve our world in ways small and large as Venus perfects its conjunction with expansive Jupiter while industrious Mars sextiles strengthening Saturn. But this effusive Venus- Jupiter aspect can also irritate people who hold others responsible for their loneliness, sometimes to a violent level. Avoid difficult ex-partners and be wary of stalkers. We can take this as a reminder to take responsibility for our condition and remember when we do so; we have the power to change that condition.

Let the sensitivity and permeability of Venus in Pisces help us prepare for the Sun to enter Pisces on Thursday, our last month to hibernate, review, renew and prepare for the coming spring. Because this is such a tender time, this week offers a chance to heal some deep-seated personal myth that can make us misanthropic. Let’s treat all we meet with kindness and love.

Friday, Feb 12: A quick, efficient if irritant and accident-prone morning as the Aquarius Moon opposes Mars, moods smooth after midday adjustment. Mercury trines Saturn this afternoon allows for follow-through and a deepening conversation. We’re not more flexible but do have patience and foresight, still more focused on the far horizon and a bit dense close to home. Reconnect by sharing the week with one another tonight, and then drop work-talk for the weekend.

Saturday, Feb 13: This morning we can get ticked off at other’s opinions and get in trouble as Mercury opposes Mars in Leo, so let’s choose our fights carefully, and see if we can listen one more minute than comfortable. A wide-open, wandering afternoon encourages us to run with a good idea. Don’t bother being realistic this evening, we want to believe and share a dream as the New Moon conjuncts Neptune and Chiron, a great time for party, fundraiser, group meditation or other positive collective action.

Sunday Feb 14: Make life a creative masterpiece; be inspired by an imaginative Sun-Neptune conjunction as the Moon enters sensitive Pisces and conjuncts Venus. We can get caught up in our sensitivities and self-pity, or we can open our hearts to one and other and find a safe way to be sensitive; attention and care will matter more than lavish gifts. We can open our heart more freely if expectations are low and gratitude is high. Evening can be expansive and philosophical as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter.

Monday, Feb 15: Morning is awash in emotions as Venus sextiles Pluto, memories fly by like flashcards reviewing all our major emotional issues, but we can chose to look at them with loving detachment; observe and feel but don’t hook into old patterns and stories. Luckily a steadying Mars–Saturn sextiles can help us put action behind intention and so find terra firma in our work. Just remember that people near-by may be feeling squishy. Delays may be fortunate.

Tuesday, Feb 16: Gears shift, edges sharpen and the speed picks up as the Moon conjuncts Uranus then enters Aries. We can get impatient with our emotional overflow but it’s worth it to keep the heart open as Venus conjunct Jupiter. Just don’t be surprised if no one does as expected as a coyote-like quantity wiggles us out from under expectations. Edgy, nervy acting-out tonight as Mercury semi-squares Uranus; consider all possibilities but don’t believe the extremes of thought. Communications interrupted. Cautions around sparks of all types.

Wednesday, Feb 17: Morning we can feel hung-over from tough dreams this as the Moon oppose Saturn and squares Pluto early. If we want to stomp, but know better, we can pour that mood into an unpleasant problem or unsavory chore and put it to good use. Duck down the hall if someone’s tail twitches and fight sparks their eyes. The energy flows better this afternoon, communication relieves blockages. Talk now; evening fogs out.

Thursday, Feb 18: We run hot and cold as the Sun enters intuitive Pisces with Moon in action-oriented Aries; sensitive but fierce, opinionated and vulnerable. If we have to take actions on something that tugs our hearts and leaves us uncertain, let’s take one step at a time and feel for solid ground. Get back to work on the dream tonight.

February 5-11, 2010

These last weeks, even months, have worn many people down. We have been tackling big issues and real work. This week we may feel a softening, although the long-term work continues as we are in a many-year turning point of history. Gentle doors open, we can ignore it and just have a less stressful time, or look for chinks in the wall and step into a new opportunity. Our mind and heart are encouraged to expand; our understanding has a chance to grow as Jupiter sextiles Pluto, boosts our confidence and asks us to look for the light on the horizon.

We can use that expansive streak this week, because the work doesn’t stop, and the opportunity may need effort. It can be a pain to be a grown-up. A challenging Sun-Saturn aspect can make our responsibilities and our years can feel extra heavy; our conscience may lean on us like a shepherding dog or work keep us from something we really want to do.

As the weekend begins, if we are respectful enough of one another’s privacy and personal boundaries, we can have unusually deep conversations and garner new understanding. We just have to really keep the heart open and treat one another with a wash of acceptance. It may be time to share a secret fear or deal with the root of a problem.

Over the weekend we want to be part of the global community or feel our attention drawn to that big picture, but may feel a bit fed up with the fellow humans next door. Let the little problems go, they just aren’t the point. Bond on the big issues as Venus conjunct Neptune in Aquarius.

Dance in the name of a good cause as art and politics, creativity and spirit weave together. Creative solutions work far better than more of the same, healing is a matter of the heart and compassion.

Mid-week we have work to do. No getting around it, it’s time. Don’t worry about worrying; just get started under the industrious Capricorn Moon. Look ahead to see where to go, but not enough to be overwhelmed; just begin and continue, and occasionally look back to see how much got done. We become more ready to talk about collective action, though still hooked on our own ideas about how, as Mercury enters Aquarius; but let’s not waste this motivation in words alone.

Towards the end of the week our attention can scatter to the four winds unless we corral it, we dive into family life, group dynamics or life on the internet, and may get out of synch with what we really need ourselves unless we pay attention. Let’s try for balance inside and out, balance of body, mind and heart.

Friday, Feb 5: Morning may be cranky and opinionated; humor can help us play bumper cars with egos if the jokes aren’t too barbed. Mixed feelings are normal; we may be glad to be alone but hate to be isolated as the snarky Scorpio Moon battles with extroverted Mars in Leo. Scathing critiques may be more recreational than realistic, so let them roll but look for a valid point underneath. Deep understanding is available if we just keep our heart open and our mind as receptive as it is sharp. Tonight, if the approach-avoidance intensifies, take a personal retreat or be around people with music so loud no one actually needs to listen.

Saturday, Feb 6: The vibe is curious, exploratory but still rather anti-social or belligerent in the morning as the Moon squares Venus; it softens midday. Look for serendipitous moment midday as the Moon trines Uranus, and feel the mood relax and grow experimental as the Moon enters Sagittarius tonight. We’re ready to climb out of our shell and entertain a new idea or explore fresh territory as Jupiter sextiles Pluto.

Sunday, Feb 7: Although we begin the day feeling our responsibilities nipping at our heels as the Sun challenges Saturn, we have a chance to get in right relations with our soul and with our world Venus conjuncts Chiron and Neptune. Spiritual practice and art heals; we need bread and roses, beauty as well as food. Love needs a tangible form. Our dreams can take us away, or give us a goal to work towards, just watch that they don’t muddy up understanding of the present.

Monday, Feb 8: Read peoples’ body language and actions, and note where it differs from their words. Both realities are true, but their actions reveal less conscious motivations while the Sun challenges Pluto. Don’t mistake depression for unwillingness midday, find out what’s bugging them and see if they respond to a more hopeful vision. Evening, a shared moment heals; we need to feel our brethren as the Moon sextiles Chiron, Jupiter and Venus.

Tuesday, Feb 9: We feel the pinch this morning as duties and deadlines press on us like a lowering cloud. Instead of being overwhelmed by the size of the mountain ahead as a responsible Capricorn Moon conjuncts Pluto and squares Saturn, let’s get cracking on the one piece we can reach right now and make it work. Give people the facts they need this morning. Any honestly encouraging word helps, but skips the fluff. This afternoon use a break to stand back and reevaluate priorities.

Wednesday, Feb 10: Wheel and deal with the best of them as Mercury enters Aquarius. The difference between networking and gossip is our intention, choose carefully. Every move is political; work the room, check in with family, contact politicians, and meditate with community. We need to feel like we’re getting somewhere, so appreciate each step of progress along the way.

Thursday, Feb 11: If we can clear the decks today, we can wander in the more heart-centered days ahead without dropping the ball. Tie up loose ends this morning under the Capricorn Moon, and then work the filaments of connection and creative inspiration this afternoon as the Moon enters Aquarius while Venus enters Pisces.
